Join us March 5, 2009 at the Fox Theatre for our annual Best in Atlanta Real Estate Awards. Meet the “Human Highlight Film,” Atlanta Hawks Vice President and NBA Hall-of-Famer Dominique Wilkins! The event begins with the best cocktail-networking hour in town at 6 p.m., followed by words on winning from #21. We’ll then present our awards for categories including: Office, Industrial, Retail, Land, Residential, Design, Mixed-Use, Rehab/Renovation and Overall Deal of the Year. We’ll also induct our highly esteemed Visionary Award winner! A delicious buffet dinner is also part of the evening’s celebration.

I’m glad that for $75 a person we are going to get someone who won zero championships in the NBA and certainly has not seen a lot of winning in his time in the front office will grace us with “words on winning.”

Flip Murray getting notice in the fantasy world:

Flip Murray, Atlanta Hawks: What has gotten into Murray in recent weeks? The journeyman has reached double figures in 10 of his last 11 games, including three outings of 20 or more in his last six. However, Murray contributes little outside of his scoring – he doesn’t dish out many assists or do much work on the boards and most of his points come from inside the three-point line.

Speedy Claxton is keeping busy in places other then the Hawks back court. Apparently, Hofstra had Speedy on the court long enough when he was attending school there, that they thought he was good enough to have his number retired. Speedy said of the NCAA tourney bid Hofstra received while he was there, “I don’t think anything will replace that.” Claxton actually has an NBA title with the Spurs in 2003, but I guess when you forget about those things when you are only getting into 30 games. Alas, Speedy’s presence was not enough to lead Hofstra to a win, as they fell by four to Virginia Commonwealth. I’m happy for Speedy though, he has definitely earned his pay check from the Hawks and I’m glad he be confident enough to be dropping Jennifer Lopez’s name around.

Claxton – who will make $5.75 million this season, bringing his career earnings to more than $26 million – is living the good life, with a home in Old Westbury, not far, he said, from actress Jennifer Lopez.

‘Clacks staying busy

Knickerbocker David Lee was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week by the Association, helped by his strong performance last Wednesday, when the Knicks plastered the Birds, 112-104. Lee had 17 points and 16 boards.
